Hey everyone!
We have had a busy couple of weeks! On March 6th, my team and I got the opportunity to attend an Awakening. This was an opportunity for my squad and 2 other World Race squads, to come together and worship the Lord. It was a good reset and transition into our second country. That’s right! OUR SECOND COUNTRY already! And we’re already 2 weeks into ministry here.
On March 11th, we traveled to Jeffery’s Bay, South Africa. We had time to debrief our ministry and time in Swaziland, then jumped quickly into ministry. Since being in Jbay, the Lord has reminded me about the rest we can find in His beautiful creation. Since being here, there have been many distractions (having phone service, the fast-paced environment, changes in ministry schedules, and tiredness) that have impacted our daily routines. We have such easy access to the Lord and his rest and JBay has already been a great reminder of this. When things get busy or we get distracted, the Lord is reaching out his hand for us to grab ahold of, and to rest in.
As for ministry, me and my team are working at an Orphanage called 7th Heaven. This orphanage homes 16 children. There are about 5 babies, 2 pre-schoolers, and the rest are school aged kids.
Some days are filled with lounging with and loving on babies. Other days are filled with Bible lessons, dance parties, riding bikes, and getting our hair “braided” (it’s more like getting our hair tied in knots).
The orphanage is also a day care, where kids from the surrounding communities come to play while their parents work. A lot of parents do not have a consistent job, and sit on the side of the road with their hands out like they’re shrugging their shoulders. This is in hopes that someone will pick them up with a job for them to do- whether that’s building something, painting, or any form of manual labor. With the inconsistency of a job, some kids get dropped off at the orphanage unbathed, with no food for the day. Some kids get dropped off for days at a time, unsure when or if their parents will pick them up. A lot of the orphans have similar stories of being thrown away and simply unwanted.
Moving into the our last 3 weeks, we will be working at 7th Heaven, helping with youth camps, and helping build a technical school for the community we are living in. If you could please join me and my team in prayer for the following, we would really appreciate it:
- Endurance to pour into our ministry partners and to each other as a team
- Prayers against the spirit of tiredness and complacency
- For everyone that we interact with to have have soft hearts and open minds to know Jesus
- For our team to see how the Lord is using us in these last 3 weeks of ministry
