We’re 2 weeks into ministry and it has been so so good!

Tuesday through Friday, me and my team go the Behvini Care Point. This is similar to an after school program where kids go to get food, play games, and go through a discipleship course.

Every day looks a little bit different, but in the mornings we clean and prepare lunch for the kids. There are a couple kids who are already there when we get there. These are the younger kids, or kids that are not in school. The mornings are filled with a lot of lap naps, playing “double double, this this,” and singing jingle bells (the only song the kids know in English which is so funny).

In the afternoons, the older kids come and we serve them food. For a lot of these kids, this is their only meal for the day. We sit with them, talk, play soccer, and dance. We have gotten the opportunity to act out and teach Bible stories, such as Jonah and the whale and the story of Lazarus. Let’s just say, growing up going to VBS has come in handy when it comes to teaching the kids Bible songs and dances to go along with it. All of the kids love to sing and dance and have so much joy.

There has been so much joy and fun, but we have heard sad stories and seen a lot of heartbreaking things. A lot of kids are in and out of the school system because they have to pay for school (mostly for uniforms and books). If the parents pay the fees, they are in school, but if they miss a payment, they are out. Enrollment status can change weekly for the kids. There are a lot of single parent households, where the older children have to step up at such a young age, to raise their siblings. It is so crazy to see such brokenness and so much joy at the same time. There are minimal tears when there should be so many. There are hungry bellies, but they are satisfied. The kids know Jesus and that is simply all that they need.

My heart has grown in compassion, empathy, and joy. As we continue to do ministry here for the next 4 weeks, I ask that you join me and my team in prayer for the following things:

That the Lord uses the hard things we see to grow us in compassion

When we feel helpless, that we trust that the kids see the love of Jesus shining through us

Healing and health for sick team members

The kids at the care points- that they would seek and know Jesus

I am so thankful for this opportunity and for your support!

The greatest adventures often begin with a single step of faith, and God\'s call to serve in South Africa represents exactly that for me. As I prepare for this journey, I\'m deeply grateful for the community of believers who make this mission possible through both prayer and financial partnership. Through this blog, I\'ll share updates about our mission trip, stories of transformation, and ways you can stay connected with what God is doing in this beautiful nation. Thank you for considering how you might be part of this journey as we work together to expand God\'s kingdom in South Africa.
